Your privacy is important to the Prosperous Places team. To better protect your privacy we provide this notice explaining our online information practices and the choices you make about the way your information is collected and used. To make this notice easy to find, we make it available through a link on our website footer and at every point where personally identifiable information may be requested. This privacy policy details the ways we collect information from you; how we use that information; your ability to access, update, or request for us to delete your information; our commitment to data security; changes to this policy; and how you may reach us should you have any questions.

2. The Information We Collect

This notice applies to all information collected or submitted on the Prosperous Places website (www.prosperousplaces.org), including but not limited to form submissions, event registrations, newsletter registrations, and requests for information on Prosperous Places website content and community and economic development assistance. The types of information we collect include, but is not limited to, names (individuals and business names), position/title, physical/mailing addresses, email addresses, and phone numbers. We never publically display any contact information we collect from you.

Information Collected by Others

This notice addresses only the policy of Prosperous Places’ website and not sites that users access via links from our site. Prosperous Places is not responsible for the information collection policies of other sites, nor for the practices employed by websites linked to or from our website, nor for the information or content contained therein. Often links to other websites are provided solely as pointers to information on topics that may be useful to our visitors. Users are advised to review the privacy policy of other websites.

3. The Way We Use the Information We Collect

We use the information you provide about yourself through our website to contact you regarding the specific reason you submitted your information, such as to send you our newsletter, respond to your request for additional information on Prosperous Places’ services and website content, and to follow up with you on any questions. We do not share this information with outside parties except to the extent to which it is required by law for the protection of our legal rights.

Google Analytics

The Prosperous Places website, (www.prosperousplaces.org), uses Google Analytics to collect standard internet log information as well as details regarding visitor behavior patterns. We use this to learn facts about our website such as the number of visitors to particular pages of the website, the content they are reading and where they are spending time on our website. The information collected is always processed in a way that will not identify visitors. We do not make attempts to discover the identities of our website visitors, nor do we allow Google to attempt to learn the identities of our website visitors.

Mailing Lists

We do collect personal information when you register to receive email communication (newsletters, announcements, etc.) from Prosperous Places. We use the information collected for multiple reasons, such as to answer questions you have asked us; to contact you if we need to obtain or provide additional info; to confirm our records are correct and to check in once in a while to make sure you’re happy and satisfied. We do not, and never will, sell, rent, or trade our email lists with other organizations or businesses.

We use SharpSpring as our marketing and email automation tool to deliver our newsletters and other email communication. Through this platform, we gather information regarding email open rates and clicks using industry-standard technologies, which help us monitor and improve our newsletters to help us deliver content you want to read. You can unsubscribe from these emails at any time using the Unsubscribe link at the bottom of our emails or by emailing cnimmo@janusinstitute.org.

Embedded Content from Other Websites

Articles on this site may include embedded content, such as videos, images, articles, etc.. Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website. 

These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracking your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website. Content currently embedded on this site includes, but is not limited to, the following websites:

4. Comments

When visitors leave comments on the site we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.

An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.

Cookies

If you leave a comment on our site you may opt-in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year.

If you have an account and you log in to this site, we will set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.

When you log in, we will also set up several cookies to save your login information and your screen display choices. Login cookies last for two days, and screen options cookies last for a year. If you select “Remember Me”, your login will persist for two weeks. If you log out of your account, the login cookies will be removed.

If you edit or publish an article, an additional cookie will be saved in your browser. This cookie includes no personal data and simply indicates the post ID of the article you just edited. It expires after 1 day.

Media

If you upload images to the website, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images on the website.

We are committed to preventing unauthorized access, maintaining data security, and ensuring the correct use of information. We have put the appropriate physical, electronic, and managerial procedures in place to safeguard and secure the information we collect online.

If you have opted in to receive email communication from us and no longer wish to receive these emails, you may opt-out at any time by clicking the Unsubscribe link at the bottom of the email.

We will review this privacy policy routinely to ensure legal compliance and to track changes in technology. These practices are subject to change at any time. Prosperous Places complies with the EU Data Protection Directive 95/46/EC framework as set forth by the European Union regarding the collection, use, and retention of personal data from European Union member countries and Switzerland. RPS has certified that it adheres to the requirements of notice, choice, onward transfer, security, data integrity, access, and enforcement.
